KOTA KINABALU:\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) <\/span><\/span>and Huawei Technologies Malaysia <\/span><\/span>Sdn<\/span><\/span> Bhd<\/span><\/span> (Huawei Malaysia) have announced the opening of the ICT Academy Lab located at the <\/span><\/span>Faculty of Computing & Informatics<\/span><\/span>, UMS<\/span><\/span>. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The setting up of the lab is part of the efforts to strengthen Malaysia\u2019s digital talent ecosystem which is part of Huawei Malaysia\u2019s efforts to nurture a rich ICT talent pool in line with accelerating Malaysia\u2019s digital transformation goals.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The launching ceremony<\/span><\/span> was held on Apr 17, <\/span><\/span>2023,<\/span><\/span> with <\/span><\/span>UMS represented by its<\/span><\/span> Vice Chancellor<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span> Prof. <\/span><\/span>Datuk <\/span><\/span>Dr.<\/span><\/span> Kasim Mansor<\/span><\/span>, <\/span><\/span>while Huawei Malaysia was represented by<\/span><\/span> <\/a>Vice-Chancellor of Huawei Asia Pacific Academy and Director of Huawei Malaysia Public Affairs and Communications<\/span><\/span>, <\/span><\/span>Mr<\/span><\/span> Oliver Liu<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Universities are known for the students\u2019 pursuit of knowledge and innovation and to achieve this, a right tools and resources to facilitate the learning process are needed.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The ICT Academy Lab designed to enhance the learning experience of the students which will able help to train the students in a real-world environment to acquire high level of Huawei Certifications. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The lab also equipped with Huawei\u2019s smart classroom solutions in order to support university in teaching, workshops, technical discussions, sharing and exchanges with industry with hybrid method. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Commenting on the collaboration, <\/span><\/span>Prof. <\/span><\/span>Datuk <\/span><\/span>Dr.<\/span><\/span> Kasim <\/span><\/span>noted that the partnership aligns with UMS’ strategy of supporting the Ministry’s policies on integrating Industry 4.0 elements in education. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span><\/span>With the establishment of the Huawei ICT Academy Lab, UMS has implemented a range of successful programs in various ICT fields, such as telecommunications, Big Data, IoT, Cloud Computing, and artificial intelligence. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span><\/span>As of today, a total of 710 UMS graduates have followed the HCIA (Huawei Certified ICT Associate) Program, and 330 UMS graduates have been recognized as Huawei ICT Associates (HCIA) from the latest ICT fields, including Datacom, AI, Big Data, Cloud Computing, Storage, 5G and Security. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span><\/span>With this achievement and the management efficiency of the Huawei ICT Academy, UMS has been awarded the “Outstanding Achievement Award” four years in a row, namely Year 2019-2022<\/span><\/span>,\u201d Kasim said.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, <\/span><\/span>Mr. Oliver Liu<\/span><\/span> says that Huawei<\/span><\/span> are delighted to be a part of this wonderful effort by UMS to nurture ICT talent. \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span><\/span>I believe this initiative will help students improve their digital skills and become more <\/span><\/span>competitive in this highly dynamic and demanding ICT industry as well as in the job market<\/span><\/span>. \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
