KOTA KINABALU \u2013 The Head of the Inanam Secretariat Movement, Lewis Wong, has warned that any attempt by the Federal Government to appeal the Kota Kinabalu High Court\u2019s decision on Sabah\u2019s 40 percent net revenue entitlement would be seen as a betrayal of the spirit of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).<\/p>\n
He said the court\u2019s ruling was not merely a legal judgment but a long-overdue recognition of the rights and dignity of the people of Sabah within the Federation of Malaysia.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor decades, Sabahans have been denied the rights guaranteed under the Federal Constitution. This ruling proves that the Federal Government has both a moral and constitutional duty to fulfil those rights \u2014 there is no longer room for excuses,\u201d he said in a statement on Thursday.<\/p>\n
Lewis stressed that if the government chooses to appeal the decision, it would only destroy the people\u2019s trust in the sincerity of national leadership.<\/p>\n
\u201cAn appeal is not a solution; it would be a denial of the promises made under MA63. Don\u2019t repeat the mistakes of the past. Sabah has been patient long enough,\u201d he said firmly.<\/p>\n
He also urged the Federal Government to immediately implement the court\u2019s decision and begin the review of revenue-sharing in accordance with the Federal Constitution.<\/p>\n
\u201cSabah is not asking for more than what was promised. We only seek what is rightfully ours. The people want action, not more speeches. This is the time to show sincerity and rebuild trust,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Lewis added that honouring the court\u2019s decision is a true test of the nation\u2019s integrity and the government\u2019s commitment to regional justice.<\/p>\n
